Foundation of Praying without Ceasing from the Heart

Madame Guyon, Author of A Short and Very Easy Method of Prayer

This foundation is the practice of a method of prayer from the heart, and that without ceasing or meditative. The foundation was actually laid and taught hundreds of years ago by Madam Guyon, a celebrated French mystical writer of the Quietist school, in her book entitled, A Short and Very Easy Method of Prayer. Originally published in 1685, the book is considered a classic of Christian mysticism, influencing greatwriters and speakers such as John Wesley and Charles Spurgeon. In it, Madame Guyon carefully and briefly sets out her ‘unmethodicalmethod’ by which any and all can commune with God at any time and under any circumstances. At the time of printing, which was a rather stormy era in France religious history, the work resulted in Madame Guyon being both attacked and defended by some of the most brilliant writers of her day, even resulting in her imprisonment for a time.

PRAYER is nothing but the application of the heart to God, and the internal exercise of love. St. Paul has enjoined us to “pray without ceasing;” and our Lord bids us watch and pray: all therefore may, and all ought to practice prayer.      -Madam Guyon

As it states in the preface, “It was written for a few individuals, who were desirous of loving God with all their heart.” It gives simple instructions in contemplative prayer, prayer without words or distinct ideas. It also encourages readers to accept all things as from God’s hand. This book has been a key foundation in Angel WillSon’s life and is a cornerstone of the work of Global FuZion. We encourage all to read and practice the methods explained in the book.
